Batumi Boulevard, Batumi

4.7
#1 of 85 in Parks in Georgia
Running between the Black Sea and the city, Batumi Boulevard offers a place for relaxation and socialization amid the beauty of gardens and the sea. Begun in 1881 and originally spanning just the length of the city's old town, the boulevard was the brainchild of A.I. Smekalov, Batumi's then governor. Smekalov hired renowned German garden designer Reseller to create a strip of beauty for the city beside the sea. Now encompassing 7 km (4.3 mi), the boulevard offers a place to cycle (you can rent a bike) or walk. Explore the gardens and stop in at one of the many restaurants and cafes. Of special interest are the dancing fountains, which were built in 1977. • Walk and enjoy watching the sea. There are many cafes and lounges which you can take a bite or drink day or night. Many activities in booth for kids and young people.  more »
  • The route along the promenade stretches for several kilometers. It is particularly interesting to walk in the evenings and nights: music, lights, entertainment for every taste and color, cafes and kiosks with edible two to three times more expensive than in the depths of the city. You can overpower all the way on foot, and you can rent bicycles and mopeds. Price quadruple-15 gel for half an hour. Embarrassing moment-bike to get to the same place where picked up! For the first outing, especially when planning to stay the night show dancing fountains or hang over a cup of lemonade, not very convenient. The place is very democratic-somewhere among the trees, hammocks noticed unauthorized tents and tourists, the prilegshih directly on the lawns with huge backpacks under the head.

  • Really beautiful boulevard on the Black Sea coast. There's a chilled out and relaxed atmosphere here, that is unique to this Boulevard. At the entrance a big white gate greets visitors. There are lots of restaurants and cafes here. The stone beaches are very nice too. There are lots of marvelous sculptures along the way. A rebuilt wooden „summer theatre” is remarkable as well. The flora here consists of lots of plam trees and other exotic plants (there is even a big bamboo forest here).
  • Every time i visit and walk in this park i discover something new its like finding gems in nature. This place is calm and Lovely early morning bicycle ride or afternoon walk. There is a lot to see just take the kids in a sunny day and they will enjoy a lot of green spaces with playgrounds. Also u'll find kiosks of coffee and snacks and juices. I love it
  • Great park to take kids or to just while away some time when staying at the beach becomes too hot. Table tennis, pool tables available for rent. Kids can drive around on electric cars and lots of other attractions available. Some cafes and public toilets are also present.
  • The backbone of the city, the Boulevard is now about five miles long. I recommend renting a bike or motorbike if you want to see it all.
  • This is a truly legendary boulevard which attracts Batumi city visitors since the distant year of 1881.

Where to stay in Batumi

Thanks to a growing influx of wealthy visitors from surrounding nations, Batumi is increasingly awash with luxury hotels geared towards the city's casino industry. In addition to typical international luxury options, you'll find other upscale hotels located on Batumi's main promenade and along the waterfront. However, proximity to the water and beach usually means a much higher price tag. To keep costs low, consider staying a local hostel or guesthouse, which provide comfortable sleeping quarters while providing quick access to the remodeled city center and waterfront. As an added bonus, staff at local establishments may be able to give you insider recommendations for food, bars, and activities.
