#2 of 85 in Parks in Georgia
Poised on a cliff edge over the Black Sea, Batumi Botanical Gardens provides a distraction from the bustle of town. Covering 111 hectares (274 acres), the gardens contain a large array of the species from all over the globe. The landscaped areas are split into nine sectors--Caucasian, humid subtropics, East Asia, New Zealand, South America, the Himalayas, Mexico, Australia, and the Mediterranean. Stroll the paths in quiet contemplation, bring the family for a picnic, or marvel at the views out to sea. Of particular interest are the gardens' collection of trees, which provide shade and protection as well as beauty. • Due to the super reviews here, we somehow have expected more. It was a beautiful day, but really, we could not see the different continents that should be represented in each of the areas. Also, the plants were barely English labeled. A pity that so many people really have looked at the plants that are not at all, but especially great Selfies were only concerned to make. It was nice in the japanese garden in the swing. :) don't miss out! Generally, we found it on the "main route" the least beautiful, because as also keeps the small buses, people through the Park drive, huh. We have rather kept to the side paths. It comes with the marshrutka 31 of Batumi from 0.40 GEL to the garden and back. The admission cost 8 GEL per person.

  • Very decent place! One shy Mimosa which stands, which hides its leaves after touching! The whole world of plants in one place! The day may not be enough!

  • On a hot day is a great place for walks. We advise you take a guide to walks-many interesting facts and see the individual plants may learn only from the Guide. On the map is not very convenient to navigate. On the way back you can take the ticket to the electric vehicle-1 Pax-5 gel, and drive the route along the paths. We recommend a visit to the Botanical Garden because it is very interesting!

  • Very big and versatile botanical garden worth visiting. Very nice views on the shore lines. However, the garden management could be more creative giving the garden more aesthetic sense and not just a forest of many kinds of trees grouped by geographical origin. Hope one day they will read it and do something :)
  • One of the largest botanical gardens in Europe, divided into numerous country/climate zones - perfect place to visit in off season, when its not bustling with tourists. On your way back, be sure to order a taxi using one of official taxi services in advance, if you don't want to be charged double by unofficial taxi drivers standing outside.
  • Everything was nice and beautiful but I am with my mother she can't walk too much we barely made it to the bus station there so I tried to ride the electric bus and we are 9 person (big family) they told us to wait till the bus come and we wait about an hour..(there is i think 5 buses 2 of them big enough for us) when the two buses come they said one of them the switch not working the other one need to charge so I try to talk with them and one of the drivers he come to me and want to start a fight but when I say police he go away with some bad words in Georgian language after all they hardly make the bus don't have enough change work and it was not bad we get to other side...so if you have someone have problem for walking too much... it's not good place for you believe me
  • Good place to visit. It will be more helpful for pharmacy students. My advice is not to visit during August. Because the weather is so hot and humid. You have to walk long distances and climb up the hill.
  • This is an excellent botanical garden. Beautiful scenery with large varieties of plants from different regions of the world. My favorite attraction in Georgia. Must visit in batumi. You can take minibus 31 from the city. If you can not find the bus stops, at least you can get on the bus opposite the cable car.

Where to stay in Batumi

Thanks to a growing influx of wealthy visitors from surrounding nations, Batumi is increasingly awash with luxury hotels geared towards the city's casino industry. In addition to typical international luxury options, you'll find other upscale hotels located on Batumi's main promenade and along the waterfront. However, proximity to the water and beach usually means a much higher price tag. To keep costs low, consider staying a local hostel or guesthouse, which provide comfortable sleeping quarters while providing quick access to the remodeled city center and waterfront. As an added bonus, staff at local establishments may be able to give you insider recommendations for food, bars, and activities.
