Trou du Souffleur de Arahoho, Papeete
(2.7/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Get splashed by the waves at Trou du Souffleur de Arahoho, a strange geological highlight of Tahiti's coast. Long ago, liquid lava cut a tunnel through the volcanic rock of the coast here, which now allows seawater into its confined space. When a wave comes in, it gets trapped and is forced up and out through the "blowhole," spraying the surrounding area and looking much like a volcanic geyser. Stand on the viewing platform and get covered in the warm seawater as you snap photos of the impressive and unusual natural spectacle. Note that the attraction remains closed until early 2016. Put Trou du Souffleur de Arahoho and other Papeete attractions into our Papeete tour planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • The swell (so there) created a current of air that causes small jets of water and air currents. When children are around, they have fun with the air stream to throw various objects. See on the way not to miss the visit of 3 waterfalls in 10 minutes, even if the road is closed (fall of stones). Beware of the dogs.

  • Few things to add. Printing arriving is staggering. We stay to watch the other holes around. Attention to the inevitable shower by heavy seas.

  • The hole of the blower, "Arahoho" in Tahitian, or "the road screaming", between Papenoo and unaware... The interest of this curiosity only exists if there is a strong swell. "A conduit formed there millions of years by the passage of a stream of lava in the cliffs." The waves in to diving in the underwater cave make gush through this hole a geyser which, according to the power of the wave causes a long loud breath quite spectacular". We have seen this curiosity, with a little rough sea and have only heard the sound of the breath, which, it is true, is amazing, but not spectacular, but not spectacular by the weather situation... However, the site has been (well) and moved road (car accident were very numerous), that do not yet indicate the guides. The place is now secured and the wonderful view. The parking isn't very big... Indications are placed just before the place and sometimes it takes to turn around to see... Location of 3 waterfalls.
