Coral Gardeners, Paopao

I had the pleasure to meet the Coral Gardeners today. A dozen young people are working together at this NGO. The mission is to raise awareness for the environment and in detail the coral reefs. They have observed that the amount of dead or bleaching corals has grown due to global warming, storms, several industries and tourisme. Therefore they inform in a 2,5h Eco Tour about who they are, what they do and how you can help. The tour costs 5000XPF. Even if you are not in Moorea, you can adopt a coral for 3000XPF/25EUR. As thank you you will receive a certificate with your name, how you named your coral, a photo of it and the gps location. Thereby you give fishes a new home, help to keep Moorea's eco system alive, fishs for the locals to eat and tourists to see the Moorea's beautiful marine diversity....

Amazing and very promising project! The eco tour was great, starting with some background on how the founders grew up on the island and how that made them to connect to the topic of reef conservation. After that it was a great input about the bleaching of the reef, it's consequences and how they fight to face the issue locally and globally. I am very happy that involves teaching at school, speaking on podium discussions and the média. We had a great time planting our own corals and I hope they will flourish to a healthy reef. Keep on the good work!

Spent a wonderful afternoon here, learning about the role of coral in the ecosystem, and the ways that this dedicated group of people are helping coral, both directly and through community outreach. We then visited their coral nursery, where we chose a coral to plant, then attached it to a rock where it will continue to grow.

Respect, for your awareness-raising action to respect our little universe. Only sponsorships for our 9 grandchildren, modest help for your action can sensitize them in turn. During our visit to Moorea and our sponsorships, we had to receive the cards of the nine sponsorships to date, no reception, despite an international phone call, two emails and no response.
