Zoo de Guyane, Macouria
(4.2/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web)
Get up close to endangered wildlife in captivity at Zoo de Guyane, located within authentic Guyanese jungle. Recognized as the only zoo in Guyana, the institution shelters over 70 exotic (and mostly endangered) species, including pumas, jaguars, ocelots, anacondas, macaws, and iguanas. Trails through the jungle lead over suspended trees and among tall, shady canopies. The zoo enjoys a reputation for its highly responsible approach, though visitors who find the sight of animals in captivity upsetting should approach with caution. • Great little zoo, with a nice variety of local fauna, including tapirs, toucans, caymans, capybara, ocelot, and many many more. The capuchin monkeys were particularly entertaining. Plan to spend around 90mn.
  • Very exotic. You can go all year and never see the same thing. The course in the forest is very pleasant. A very nice experience.

  • They have nothing to do here. A reserve rather but not a zoo like that! These animals do not deserve to be imprisoned so all their life to distract poor tourists.
