Kourou Space Centre (Centre Spatial Guyanais), Kourou
(4.5/5 based on 170+ reviews on the web)
See where satellites launch into outer space with a tour of Kourou Space Centre (Centre Spatial Guyanais). In 1964, the French government chose this uninhabited territory--close to the equator and protected from tropical storms and earthquakes--as a base from which to send its satellites into the cosmos. Take the highly informative three-hour bus tour of the launch pads and control room where the launching is programmed. Note the tour is usually in French, but the guides will answer all your questions in English. Amenities include a gift shop. Check the website for the launch schedule and reserve a place at one of the center's observation points (or watch with the locals from one of Kourou's beaches). • Due to an error in the travel company we met with a group of more than 30 Dutch today 2 hours late to in kourou for the tour (after a long bus trip from Paramaribo). Luckily it was a friendly French employee willing to (after its spell!) still a mini us tour. In perfect Dutch yet though. Has saved our day! Super great

  • For any fan of the space a must! You can learn more about the processes and daily life at the ESA. Best also informs you when the next rocket launch takes place! The only minus point was that they make the tours practically only in French. For someone like me, who aren't really good fluent in the language, it was therefore quite tedious.

  • With young children, we couldn't do that the Museum. Too bad... In regards to the Museum, it is well done. It helps to have an informative overview on space exploration. Takes an hour to visit. The kids liked.
