Kourou Space Centre (Centre Spatial Guyanais), Kourou

(4.5/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web)
See where satellites launch into outer space with a tour of Kourou Space Centre (Centre Spatial Guyanais). In 1964, the French government chose this uninhabited territory--close to the equator and protected from tropical storms and earthquakes--as a base from which to send its satellites into the cosmos. Take the highly informative three-hour bus tour of the launch pads and control room where the launching is programmed. Note the tour is usually in French, but the guides will answer all your questions in English. Amenities include a gift shop. Check the website for the launch schedule and reserve a place at one of the center's observation points (or watch with the locals from one of Kourou's beaches). • Situated in a jungle area the base is open to civilian visitors and launch day it allows visitors to come and watch the rockets rise in to the sky. Space museum is worth a visit where you can buy mode...  more »
  • Very complete visit of a large part of the site, with no shots Ariane, Soyuz, Vega... And the famous room of Jupiter, where operations are directed at a shot. Many explanations given by guides, visit made by bus (the CSG site is necessarily very broad), which lasts about 3:00 am, and free and more! Don't miss if you have the chance to go through Kourou!

  • A visit that should not miss. With or without children. Everything is exciting, Guide answering all your questions, the staff is passionate so exciting. A nice discovery. So I'm going with my small children and whenever I get friends, and I can not get enough. I went there at least 6 times, including the last early January
