Kourou Space Centre (Centre Spatial Guyanais), Kourou

(4.5/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
See where satellites launch into outer space with a tour of Kourou Space Centre (Centre Spatial Guyanais). In 1964, the French government chose this uninhabited territory--close to the equator and protected from tropical storms and earthquakes--as a base from which to send its satellites into the cosmos. Take the highly informative three-hour bus tour of the launch pads and control room where the launching is programmed. Note the tour is usually in French, but the guides will answer all your questions in English. Amenities include a gift shop. Check the website for the launch schedule and reserve a place at one of the center's observation points (or watch with the locals from one of Kourou's beaches). • I give 5 stars was the visit to the Space Center because I found very well organized and exciting. The tour is guided and guided by very good guides, we would travel no shots in air conditioned bus and videos explain very well what we can see. I was bluffee by the complexitė of the organization around the satellite launchers, all parameters has ' take into account and securitė taken drastic measures. The site, the command, the securitė orchestrated by the gendarmerie and the, legion, all of this is very impressive. We had the chance to attend at sea has a take-off of the Ariane 5, since the islands of Salvation: we're not ready to forget the la.mer earthquake and vibration of the boat, in the whirring thunder of take-off... In short go fermės eyes this is the most beautiful attraction of Guyana!

  • I was not very motivated to visit the Space Center. But after doing it I have no regrets. To see it, the guides give very good explanations and you can go to the launch areas. I do not hide that the Museum and somewhat dated.

  • Discover a space center is rare enough to not to miss the opportunity. If a shot is scheduled shortly after your visit is even better. Allow half a day for all to see.
