Ilet la Mere, Cayenne

4.5
#4 of 6 in Parks in Cayenne
Island Nature / Park
Take a boat ride to Ilet la Mere to observe a community of social monkeys eagerly awaiting to be fed with any snacks you may bring. With some luck, you'll see dolphins and sea turtles along the way. Palm trees just off the shoreline provide excellent shade and create an outstanding picnic spot. Take one of the trails across the island to get a glimpse of local plant and animal life, followed by a cooling dip in the seawater. • You couldn't book a day or more to the islands of salvation? Rest assured: the islet mother awaits a half hour by boat from the Marina of Cayenne (hard to find, you must work around the oil port; accessible by car). Half a day is enough to make the Tower (and the Summit!) of the island and move away some calmer, these small primates size abandoned at the close of the experimental laboratory. These monkeys thrive on the island thanks to the food they just fly in your hands or in your bags. Beware! [the sea voyage price equivalent to that for the islands of salvation; [(i.e. very expensive like everything in French Guiana) but you save time if you leave Cayenne].
