Climb up to Fort Ceperou and explore what’s left of this centuries-old fortification. A bell tower and a few fort walls are all that remain, perched up on top of one of the highest points in the town. This spot offers some of the best views of the city. The fort's remains lie in ruins, giving the site an atmosphere of an aging fortress that has seen its fair share of battles. With our world travel planner, Cayenne attractions like Fort Ceperou can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

Fort Ceperou Reviews

Unfortunately the fort has been left to decay and there is no information on display to explain the history of the building either. At best a 10 minute diversion. more »

Ce fort Ceperou construit en 1652 présente peu d'intérêt. Il est plutôt délabré, le seul avantage qu'il présente est la vue dégagée qu'il offre sur la Ville de Cayenne et sur l'océan. Ceperou était un... more »
This Cépérou fort built in 1652 this little interest. It is rather run down, the only advantage he presents is the clear view it offers on the city of Cayenne and the ocean. Cépérou was a native American Chief, who has given ground to Poncet de Brétigny, he had a son named Cayenne which gave its name to the city.View original -
Superbe vue c’est le point de vue de la ville le plus haut . Il y a un parking à proximité. Quelques escaliers. more »
Great view it is the point of view of the city the highest. There is a car park nearby. A few stairs.View original

A bit disappointed 😞 Not properly maintained

This fort rundown that dates back to the year 1627 this little interest, perhaps the view it offers on the ocean and the city of Cayenne. It was built on land acquired by Poncet de Brétigny who bought it to the native American chief Cépérou, King of the galibis, he had a son named Cayenne which gave its name to the city.View original

What a beautiful view on the ocean to the West and the beautiful city of Cayenne to the East. In bass, so can be seen the place of Palm kernels and the various municipal buildings. Do before discovering the market of Cayenne, because it goes up a bit for overhanging the city! The faster access through the street of the Fort-Cépérou...View original
