  • We can't leave the Burgundy without visiting Dijon, Beaune and the castle of Clos Vougeot. The monks of the nearby Cistercian Abbey became the owners of the Clos-Vougeot in the 12th century. They build the monastic barn and the winery in the form of cloister. The logis seigneurial Renaissance has been built in the 16th century. I was impressed by the four presses to capstan (they could contain four tons of grapes each!) and the large wine cellar (2000 barrels of 228 litres!). The free tour begins with the dormitory of the monks (beautiful framing) where we see a film evoking the brotherhood of the Knights of the Tastevin created in 1934. Note the well dug in the 12th century to 20 meters deep and its ingenious system which allows to draw water without effort. Visit informative and very interesting.

  • We have quickly made the tour of the clos, which is certainly very well maintained but for €7.5, from my point of view this is expensive for the time of the visit, maybe the tour is more interesting but it cost €2.5 per person.

  • On 20 July 2017 the Route des Grands Crus driven between Dijon and Beaune. The Clos de Vougeot Castle is beautifully situated between the vineyards. Founded by monks and now seat of the equestrian order the Tastevin. Few spectacular and well organized. PR film about the knighthood and their members. Clumsy Dutch hand-out. Indrukkendwekkend large wine presses.

  • Great castle with a lot of history, and interesting information about the annual wine judging that's done here. Great views from around the castle.
  • Interesting place, good short movie, old equipment for making wine. Worth visiting.
  • Really interesting and well preserved castle in the middle of some of burgundy's best vineyards. Scenic and easy drive from Beaune.
  • It was OK but I was disappointed there was little explanation as to what made the area good for growing wine. The only info we found was about how much the people in the area liked themselves. That was really off putting
  • Very beautiful chateu/monestary in the middle of the wineyards. Nice museum.
