Fort Saint-André is a 13th-century fortified castle on a rocky outcrop above the Rhône River. The castle served as a formidable fortress, as well as a symbol of French power. Explore the classic medieval castle gatehouse, where two imposing battlement-topped round towers flank the gate. Head up to the top of the ramparts for a view of the villages and the surrounding countryside. This well-preserved fortress is on the official list of French historic monuments. • A magnificent medieval fortress with extraordinary views of AVIGNON. A lesson in history of France and architecture for small and large.

  • It's a good place to walk around the Avinon. You can see the view of the city as well.
  • Atmospheric fortress overlooking the city of Avignon. Could do with better interpretive materials to help explore but still a worthwhile visit. The paths are mainly unpaved so wear decent walking shoes.
  • The Fort is a nice visit; I prefer it to the Abbey.
  • The castle is also see better from the outside than from the inside. We have not visited the Abbey located in the course. But otherwise, the castle is only interest in my view, the landscape. It dominates the entire Valley and it's really a nice panorama. Pity about the lack of info.
