  • The largest cloister of France. It's true, but especially this Charterhouse is in good condition. It is much more rare. She was rescued from the revolutionary post vandalism by its transformation into hospital. She keeps this function. Imagine a large stone ship wanted by one man, or rather by a pair of wealthy merchants. Funny story anyway. And it will have nearly 700 years old lady. A large cloister of beauty by its proportions and the apparent simplicity desired by the carthusians. Another cloister, smaller, Gothic, moving. There is also the Tabula of the convent, the refectory, the chapel. Everything is beautiful; stripped, relaxing. Believed to hear the footsteps of the monks coming our way. Paulus, your humble Porter monk Frater.

  • Very beautiful monument, the great cloister is outstanding. Too bad it's not better highlighted (the storefront gives not want) and that there is a hospital against the building! However it is still a site not to be missed.

  • Moments of magic and happiness multiply in this magnificent together flamboyant Gothic chartreux. The large cloister, which is exceptional by its size and its state of conservation, the superb small cloister which gives access to the refectory, grandiose! The Chapel and its vestibule, superb restored stained glass windows. take your time to stroll around this place and discover the little things at every turn and every look in looking up and looking down. A long time also to discover the life of the Carthusian monks. I'll come back!

  • Very well preserved monastery. If possible, take advantage of the guided tour. Visit lively and interesting, with children aged 9, 13 and 16.

  • The buildings of the monastery were purchased by the commune of villefranche after the revolution and used as a hospital which is a very good state of conservation of the buildings and furniture. So far part of the buildings is always used as a hospital. Very interesting guided tour explaining the origin and the various buildings of the monastery as well as life Carthusian. A must see.

  • The Chartreuse, property of the public hospital in the town of Villefranche de Rouergue, is a former monastery of the religious order of the Carthusians. This site is extraordinarily well-preserved. It helps to understand the monastic life according to the strict rule of Saint Bruno. The site can be visited.
