(4.6/5 based on 55+ reviews on the web)
Explore diverse works of art by Picasso and the collections of Christian Zervos at Musee Zervos, a modern art museum. The medieval basement houses manuscripts and is the site where writer Romain Rolland died. Upstairs houses sculptures from Giacometti and the "Grasshopper" painting by Ernst. On the ground floor, small sculptures and a massive relief cast by Henri Laurens are alongside a large mobile by sculptor Calder. Displayed in the Picasso room, works by Pablo Picasso and Julio González describe the link between these two artists. • Very nice Museum built by the architect Pietro Cremonini. A treat of to stroll among the Picasso, Ernst, Miro, Lam Brauner. See the beautiful streetart (prematurely) fresco painted by light Fernand and take some time in the House of Romain Rolland. Zervos was a great enthusiast and his sculptures of the cyclades are still more beautiful in this exceptional artistic context

  • Let's maybe not at Vézelay to see art modern... but if you come on to Vézelay don't miss this gem of a museum. Everything is there. The framework: the House of Romain Rolland, whose office to preserved its atmosphere of the period, but which for the rest was beautifully renovated in a sober and modern spirit without coldness. Great views of the vineyard covered slopes and hills around. Works: Picasso, Miró, Nicolas de Staël and Calder but many other still respond in echo... as some African statuettes and superb little cycladic heads!
