Magical setting of 800 hectares for walking safely from the door of St. Anthony in front of the Queen's Hamlet then the petit Trianon followed of the grand Trianon before joining the grand canal and the ride from nearby of the lantern and to return to the gate St Antoine. A beautiful postcard combining wooded spaces and long went straight along the grand canal and a magical perspective on the edge of the grand canal facing the terrace of the Hall of mirrors. Letting go you can imagine the memorable holidays organised by the Sun King. The loop is 7 km. 2 regrets: children 1.Certains non educated do not respect places hollering as if they were at their neighbourhood nursery! 2. nothing can justify that schedules are reduced since the announcement of vigie pirate with a strict closure at 7 pm so that hundreds of tourists would appreciate to be able to walk around until 8:30 in the summer. Advice: if possible enjoy the week, attendance is much less intense.

This is probably the 10th time I've been to Versailles. The crowds were crazy. I suggest taking a full day to walk the palace canal and gardens. Stroll.  more »

Versailles Garden Center for the Canal. On a very large scale, and some people are playing up the boat to borrow a boat. There are several cafes and restaurants surrounding Yen sales.

Where to stay in Versailles

Though you can visit the palace of Versailles on a day trip from Paris, travelers interested in exporing outside the château should consider staying in the town of Versailles, Rambouillet, or Fontainebleau. All three of these boast historical centers and a number of accommodations for visitors, from swanky hotels to short-term apartment rentals. You may want to avoid the other nearby towns, like Senlis, which don't offer any lodging in their old town centers. To put yourself within walking distance of the grand palace, pick a spot along the main avenue in the town of Versailles. When staying here, you can experience first-hand what city planners took into consideration when building this new capital.
