Categories: Sacred & Religious Sites, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.5/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web
Built in 1648, Versailles' oldest church, Eglise Notre Dame, has rich, Neoclassical architecture. A notable stained-glass lantern in the dome provides sunlight. As you approach, notice how the facade conceals a magnificently balanced nave with classical proportions. Inside, enjoy the sculptural motifs depicting figures and scenes from the New Testament. Long ago, this church held the records of royal baptisms, weddings, and deaths. Eglise Notre Dame is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Versailles Edition.

  • If you like churches keeps you not miss when visiting Versailles. Beautiful on the outside, austere on the inside, but beautiful paintings and sculptures

  • History this magnificent Church should maintain its style and do not welcome too flashy modern statues that shock aesthetics and destroy harmony. A historical reminder of its foundation on one of the pillars would be welcome. Priests are at the height of the place.
