  • Largely inspired by the pont du Gard is visible from the road that joined the miles to coudoux allows it to bring water from the Durance to Marseille a magnificent building from the 1800s. It spans the road, the railroad and the Valley of the Arc which is also superb

  • Lamartine is considered one of the wonders of the world. Its construction is related to the water restrictions of Marseille. The drought of 1834 led to its construction to drive the water of the Durance to Marseille. The channel will have 80 km long. Then there is the same problem as the pont du Gard: it will take to build an aqueduct to cross the Valley of the Arc. 300 stonemasons will be required to extract the stones of a career. The bridge was completed in June 1947. The book is very impressive, it consists of 3 rows of arcades and measure 83 metres long. In July 1947 the water of the Durance arrived in Marseille. A TGV line passes nearby making the table even more impressive. To see the work from below and for good walkers climb to one of the ends of the viaduct by a dirt road and admire seen d ' at the top. You can continue your visit on the way to the pond of Berre. I recommend this walk.
