Located at about 6 to 7 kilometres from the campsite that was feasible on one afternoon. The Vensac mill is a tower mill. It is a mill of the XVIII century, originally located 2 kilometers, was dismantled stone by stone and rebuilt on its present site in 1858. To reduce his work, quite laborious, the Miller took advantage of reconstruction to develop some mechanisms: buckets, augers, sieve. From 1875 to 1913, several owners came and went, and the mill was stripped of some elements added in 1858. And the milling industry, developing, replaced little by little windmills: that of Vensac stopped grinding in 1939. World War II facilitated nor its operation and activity. In the 1980s, a restoration was carried out by the son and grandson of the Miller, this mill is in working condition as formerly, at times of prosperity. This gave the sector a momentum of renewal and nostalgic joy. The mill was again in service, the wings would turn again, flour would be produced. During the visit, we discovered the magnificent original parts: the frame of the roof, the toothed wheel, some gears, wheels. You visit while the mill works, you attend the production of flour, put in bag, to the work of the Miller: really a very beautiful moment full of nostalgia and authenticity. Some parts have to be redone, according to originals, copies were made in wood of oak, pine in respect of the materials used in the nineteenth century. However, we realized that the world of naturism was small as we found, during this visit, the campers and tourists who were staying in the same campground. Needless to say that we were dressed and it made us smile when we met our other naturist acolytes. This mill visits take place from 10: 00 to 12:30 and from 14:30 to 18:30, in July and August: every day, in June and September: every weekend and for the months of April, may and October: Sunday afternoon and holidays every day by appointment for the groups can get there. Visits are very well commented, and last 30 minutes. The admission ticket is 4.50 euros per adult and 3,50 euros per child. The highlight of this visit is to be able to walk away with flour; in fact you can buy flour from the mill produced on-site; I assure you it is good flour we used in pastries and homemade bread. This visit worth a visit because it is an authentic nineteenth century windmill that award-winning "Masterpieces in jeopardy" contest in 1985 antenna 2 for its restoration and its functioning.

We had the pleasure of visiting the mill of Vensac. The Miller was a great guide with a lot of detail on the mill and its operation. In the end we did over 2 hours of visit and we only saw them pass. The mill is beautiful. Don't hesitate to stop by and visit and buy some flour ;)
After a vacation in Hourtin, I had the chance to visit this mill and receive explanations on the operation of the mill and how to filter the grains to get the different flours. A visit you will not be disappointed
