#1 of 7 in Nature in Vaucluse
The largest mountain in the region, Mont Ventoux hosts a section of the Tour de France cycling race. The biological distinctiveness of the mountain was recognized by UNESCO in 1990. The mountaintop is bare limestone, which makes its peak appear from a distance to be snow-capped all year round. There are three routes available for those who wish to climb the mountain.
