  • This nice and big square downtown, lined pretty old houses to panels of wood and small shops, is located in front of the magnificent Cathedral St Tugdual. Its access is facilitated by the development of the place, realized a few years ago, notably by creating many car parks and the regulation of vehicular traffic conditions. The benches are at the disposal of visitors, particularly numerous in summer. As the place is lively during the summer, as she is deserted in low season. The image of many shops closed, the city seems so as folded on her - even. The majestic Cathedral St Tugdual, place of a visit to the city imperturbably dominating a few passers-by instead. The statue of Ernest Renan (1823-1892), represented sitting and dominated by the statue of Athena is a work of the sculptor Jean Boucher. It is built on the square next to the Cathedral and symbolizes the free thought. She was a source of controversy and significant disputes between secularists and Catholics at the beginning of the 20th century. Thus, following a national subscription, the calvary of protest (also named the 'repair'), work of the sculptor Yves hernot head, was built in 1904, on the docks of Tréguier, by Catholics opposed to the statue of the writer. Behind the Cathedral, you can discover the beautiful sculpture dating from 1922, named "the pain", work of Francis Renaud, in tribute to the dead of the war of 1914-1918. If the visit of the place of the Martray is required, as well as the discovery of the other typical houses to discover in the small streets and alleys of the city, there is still much to see (House of the Duke John V; the seminary and the old Hôtel-Dieu). In addition to the documentation available at the tourist information office, you can see Tripadvisor photos and comments on the "Cathedral St Tugdual" and the "House of Ernest Renan" to prepare your visit of Tréguier.

  • Nice place full of history and near the Cathedral. But given the rainy and cold February weather, we gave up to see this time well, I honestly can't say more.
