Prieure de Saint-Cosme, Tours
(3.6/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web)
Founded in 1092, Prieure de Saint-Cosme has interesting ruins, gardens, and a restored chancel and refectory. Decades ago, the priory fell into disrepair, and the impact from WWII further damaged the remains. You can visit the garden tomb, bedroom, and office of Pierre de Ronsard, the notable French Renaissance poet. Then stroll the tranquil gardens that showcase a large heirloom rose collection. • Visit the Priory in the spring is a real treat: the festival of the roses is a delight and also attracts many people.

  • With beautiful weather, in spring or summer the ballad in the Priory should be pretty. In November the rain, it is another thing. The contents of the buildings is rich in reading but rather poor in things to actually see.

  • The place has been well restored, the visit is attractive thanks to the facilities that allow to know the history of the Priory as well as the poetry of Ronsard. This should be an essential output when we visit towers.

  • I love hanging out in his gardens and old stones. Listen to Pierre de Ronsard's poems while visiting. It is a peaceful place

  • Who does this site visit is very rude... not to say obnoxious

  • The buildings of France and architects sometimes had to pay attention to the modern mix of wood and stone. J've known before work, there was a story, a soul to the Priory, now a modern place fro!

  • Prieuré de Saint Cosme is a former monastery in which lived Pierre de Ronsard, famous poet of the Renaissance and a protégé of King Henri II. The ruins and buildings offer a fun and nice ride in sunny weather. Above all, do well the guessing at the end of the books of the desks. The home, do not be sickened by the strong smell of rose water, is just the home. Too bad that such a church was destroyed by bombing during WW2.

  • Enchanting in flowering period. Originality has been able to find its place with the subtle play of light of the stained glass windows of Zao Wou - Ki. We love.
