Place du Capitole, Toulouse
Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Some of the interior of Place du Capitole can be traced to the 16th century, but the current Neoclassical façade dates back to 1750. Made of pink marble and 135 m (443 ft) long, it boasts eight columns that represent the original eight capitals of the 16th century. In 1873, Eugène Viollet-le-Duc built the bell tower on top of the donjon or inner tower, in the typical northern French style. Only the Henri IV courtyard and gate survive from the original medieval buildings. Today the building houses the city hall, as well as an opera company and a symphony orchestra. Inevitable quand on visite Toulouse.

great wall paintings, went there twice to donate blood, a visit is worth it.
Nice place to visit. But too many people maybe. really nice to see it.
One of Europe's great public squares, steeped in history and still the vibrant focal point of this city.
Must visit central place for Toulouse - lots of good restaurants around, and you can almost be certain that there will be a protest of some sort in the square to entertain you !
