Les Abattoirs, Toulouse
(3/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
At Les Abattoirs, enjoy learning about art and artists since the 1950s. The museum illustrates the artistic movements born after World War II in Europe, Japan, and the United States. Art schools represented include Lyrical Abstraction, Abstract Expressionism, Art Brut, Informal Art, Japanese Gutai, Arte Povera, Spatialism, and Trans Avant Garde. The most emblematic work on display is "La dépouille de Minotaure en costume d’Arlequin,” conceived by Luis Fernandez and Pablo Picasso in 1936. If you want to see this particular piece, call ahead; it’s only shown six months of the year, due to its fragility. Our Toulouse trip itinerary planner makes visiting Les Abattoirs and other Toulouse attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • Unfortunately, the day I went there, the Museum was closed... Fortunately, the outside is also beautiful works to discover. A beautiful exhibition dedicated to the mosaics of Fernand Leger or inspired by the works of light artists.

  • The positive: the architecture of the Museum! A very large main room, which is quite impressive. The Museum is large and has potential, its location is perfect. The negative: exposure is free but... When we were there it was not terrible... Very look for loinnn the meaning of the works. I have not hooked to the concept... But this is only my point of view. Contemporary art lovers I'm waiting for your review.

  • Yet another place that offers since 1981 exhibitions and varied around the world, most often in a 'modern' style of quality. This building has been very well restored. Inquire about the site to find out what is happening.

  • Simple local modern art museum, built in old slaughterhouses building. The place is lovely, it can be worth the visit depending on the temporary exhibition.
  • A nice destination if abstract contemporary art is your thing. Free entrance for art and architecture student
  • An ideal way of re using large industrial buildings in a city center
  • Centre Régional d'art moderne
  • Best meat in the entire city. Quite expensive but you'll forget it once the meat will simply melt in the mouth. Worth its price. I highly recommend to go for the 2nd service around 10pm.
