Art Museum Museum
At Les Abattoirs, enjoy learning about art and artists since the 1950s. The museum illustrates the artistic movements born after World War II in Europe, Japan, and the United States. Art schools represented include Lyrical Abstraction, Abstract Expressionism, Art Brut, Informal Art, Japanese Gutai, Arte Povera, Spatialism, and Trans Avant Garde. The most emblematic work on display is "La dépouille de Minotaure en costume d’Arlequin,” conceived by Luis Fernandez and Pablo Picasso in 1936. If you want to see this particular piece, call ahead; it’s only shown six months of the year, due to its fragility. Our Toulouse trip itinerary planner makes visiting Les Abattoirs and other Toulouse attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • It is a terrible museum. There are very few exhibitions, and most of them are just trash (literally).  more »
  • It is amazing that in a If big city a Museum of modern and contemporary art opens at noon. Their web site is confusing access: no indication if the curtain of Picasso is visible or not. Finally the entry price is quite high. Otherwise the site is very original and content quality and amazing. Finally the permanent collections should occupy more space compared to the exhibitions.

  • A nice place with a warm welcome, a very interesting exhibition temporary and easy to Park super July! The skimpy Museum Store, books, journals etc. I also discovered that the furniture could be comfortable me being prélassée in the Sun on a very comfortable lounge chair in front of a Fernand Leger!

  • Free entry on first Sunday in a month. Not big names, but great collection
  • There is nice park, art gallery and amazing stuff.
  • Simple local modern art museum, built in old slaughterhouses building. The place is lovely, it can be worth the visit depending on the temporary exhibition.
  • Wonderful exhibitions and spaces!
  • A nice destination if abstract contemporary art is your thing. Free entrance for art and architecture student

Staying in the Saint Cyprien district on the west side of the Garonne River is a fabulous way to enjoy Toulouse. Consider a stay in one of the district’s historic hotels. Alternatively, you can take full advantage of the city’s nightlife with a stay in the Arnaud Bernard district, where bars and cafes line the streets.
