Les Abattoirs, Toulouse
Categories: Art Museums, Museums
At Les Abattoirs, enjoy learning about art and artists since the 1950s. The museum illustrates the artistic movements born after World War II in Europe, Japan, and the United States. Art schools represented include Lyrical Abstraction, Abstract Expressionism, Art Brut, Informal Art, Japanese Gutai, Arte Povera, Spatialism, and Trans Avant Garde. The most emblematic work on display is "La dépouille de Minotaure en costume d’Arlequin,” conceived by Luis Fernandez and Pablo Picasso in 1936. If you want to see this particular piece, call ahead; it’s only shown six months of the year, due to its fragility. Our Toulouse trip itinerary planner makes visiting Les Abattoirs and other Toulouse attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

The building is interesting and well restored. Collection inside is mediocre if you ask me.. Take time to have a look at the river Garonne at the steps in park behind the museum.

Visite intéressante, les œuvres sont très nombreuses, notamment par le fond de scène "Le Rideau de Scène" par Pablo Picasso. Cependant, cela peut devenir lassant pour des jeunes personnes.Interesting visit, the works are very numerous, including by the back of the stage "The stage curtain" by Pablo Picasso. However, this can become boring for young people.show original
Centre Régional d'art moderne
Best meat in the entire city. Quite expensive but you'll forget it once the meat will simply melt in the mouth. Worth its price. I highly recommend to go for the 2nd service around 10pm.
Amazing building but 90% of the art could have been done by a child... !
Etoile HenriBeautiful place of heritage, very (too much) out of sync with the current contemporary and very less than places of exhibitions of contemporary art in France: Sete, Sérignan, Vassivieres, Meymac, Rochechouart, Kerguhennec, Perpignan, Bordeaux, etc. Damage to a city like Toulouse where of actors (Labège, BBB, Foundation squirrel, Exprmntl, etc.) do much more for contemporary creation that this beautiful place of Abattoirs where there is trouble, would only be a well hung exhibition...show original
Sara TravelsI'm not a fan of modern art, so I've not hooked. I prefer much better des Augustins.show original
