(3.9/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Stroll the banks of Canal de Brienne (Le), also known as the "Canal de Saint-Pierre." The canal connects the Garonne River with the Canal du Midi and the Canal de Garonne. You'll notice one lock at the Ecluse Saint-Pierre that opens to the Garonne, and another near the Canal du Midi, which usually remains open. The canal runs 1,560 m (0.97 mi), starting at Bazacle on the Garonne, and ending at the basin where it meets Canal du Midi. • I came several times to Toulouse and when I had a chance to stay close to the channel I never lost an opportunity to make some nice walks along the edges. The trails are kept clean and are frequented by quiet people, mothers with prams, seniors who then stop on the benches, young people who run, who's bringing the dogs for a walk (along the Canal there are even bag dispensers for the droppings of our friends to 4 feet). You can see groups of ducks swim quiet and you can pass pleasant relaxing moments.

  • Eventhough there are busy streets from two sides of this canal, you can still get a relaxing moment with stunnig view of trees, little bridges and water. Worth to visit any time!  more »
