Le Thot, Thonac

1.8
#3 of 8 in Childrens Museums in Nouvelle-Aquitaine
For a glimpse at ancient cave drawings, visit Le Thot. This prehistoric theme park works well as a companion trip to nearby caves, providing more information and special reproductions of some of the area's ancient art. The site also boasts an animal park, featuring special breeds similar to those that roamed the earth with our ancestors. It's especially fun for children. Put Le Thot and other Thonac attractions into our Thonac itinerary planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Very disappointed, average home, don't explain on arrival. We still had a full day on the site because it seemed interesting to spend the day on their site. What a disappointment, the animal park has really no interest few animals, the park facilities are very limit there are iron bars lying around everywhere, it's a big mess. OK this isn't the strong season in this case, why not close if we are not able to accommodate the public. Feeding the wolves: then seen here that everyone is waiting for hours before two small windows to see the wolves, children n(ont rien pu voir, puis il y a trois loups et aucune explication, bref aucun intéret.) The short film the climate is nice but quite complicated for children. Augmented reality workshop is really not at all suited to children, they don't understand the gibberish of the guide, fortunately a rhino hits the screen and wets everywhere is what they will remember about this workshop! Finally the workshop on the parietal art saved the day but have to pay more, sell us 45 minutes workshop for finally 35 minutes of activity. This is still the only good thing in this museum Nick Park. Finally the shop when in it is huge compared to the remains! A ripoff when we visited Lascaux, I see no point in coming here!

  • Seems like someone has got a few animals left over from something and wondered how to make some money out of them. Upsetting thing is that it seems to have links to the the totally amazing Lascaux International Center of Art parietal and this sad place brings both down. We had half price tickets of €4 and it wasn't worth that price!
  • This was genuinely disappointing - I know it was low season, but it was half a building site and none of the demonstrations were manned. Not worth the effort. Also, not entirely certain one of the animals wasn't dead...
  • Disappointing experience. There is a lot of advertising about wolves, but there were just 2 hidden somewhere in a small cage.
  • Worth visiting if you are in the area, it appeared as if it needed a bit of updating in some areas
  • Nice and very children friendly but a slight let down after Lascaux and it's magical atmosphere. Still worth a shot with the discount offered when bought with Lascaux.
