Le Thot, Thonac

1.7
#3 of 8 in Childrens Museums in Nouvelle-Aquitaine
For a glimpse at ancient cave drawings, visit Le Thot. This prehistoric theme park works well as a companion trip to nearby caves, providing more information and special reproductions of some of the area's ancient art. The site also boasts an animal park, featuring special breeds similar to those that roamed the earth with our ancestors. It's especially fun for children. Put Le Thot and other Thonac attractions into our Thonac itinerary planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Visit without great interest. Staff rude and arrogant. Totally disappointed by cett visit that looks a bit like a racket.

  • We went there by having taken a combined ticket with Lascaux, but finally, without this reduction, we would not have gone. Relatively small park, few animals (horses, bison, bison, wolves, deer, ibex, deer, goats). Especially thought for children because a lot of activities are proposed summer supplement. Unfortunately we are out of season. We were still able to attend the feeding of wolves (very interesting explanations, by a fan which is very nice). Park well maintained and the staff friendly.

  • On the advice of the hostess of Lascaux IV, we bought tickets matched and so came visit the Park of Thoth in the morning. Small friendly Safari Park on the theme of Prehistory with the possibility of manual workshops (for a surcharge). Very good idea these engravings highlighted, the rendering is beautiful! Rather amusing ar with participation of children. 3D movie suitable for children.

  • Seems like someone has got a few animals left over from something and wondered how to make some money out of them. Upsetting thing is that it seems to have links to the the totally amazing Lascaux International Center of Art parietal and this sad place brings both down. We had half price tickets of €4 and it wasn't worth that price!
  • This was genuinely disappointing - I know it was low season, but it was half a building site and none of the demonstrations were manned. Not worth the effort. Also, not entirely certain one of the animals wasn't dead...
  • Disappointing experience. There is a lot of advertising about wolves, but there were just 2 hidden somewhere in a small cage.
  • Worth visiting if you are in the area, it appeared as if it needed a bit of updating in some areas
  • Nice and very children friendly but a slight let down after Lascaux and it's magical atmosphere. Still worth a shot with the discount offered when bought with Lascaux.
