Le Thot, Thonac

(1.7/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
For a glimpse at ancient cave drawings, visit Le Thot. This prehistoric theme park works well as a companion trip to nearby caves, providing more information and special reproductions of some of the area's ancient art. The site also boasts an animal park, featuring special breeds similar to those that roamed the earth with our ancestors. It's especially fun for children. Put Le Thot and other Thonac attractions into our Thonac family vacation planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Our next outing was Le Thot in Thonac, an information centre about prehistoric times (of course in this area can not miss). In the middle of a deserted plateau is a State-of-the-art building with beautiful images of all kinds of rock paintings along the walls, a kind of museum with very ancient art. Further there was a bilingual (!) overview of real life in prehistoric times and will be shown how this was humorously suggested in earlier centuries, even now (as the male with the large knots that his wife to her her hair behind dragging on). Also here we actually showing a distorted view of these so-called primitive people. There were also lots of movies and slide shows and and the boys found it here very much. Outside there was another animal park where all the animals of the rock carvings (as far as not already extinct) in person, a success story of course. And so did for this trip as a whole: perfect for young children to do and hope they learn something.

  • Well laid out, this park is interesting to see the animals referred to in Lascaux (I had never seen a beautiful reins so ready!) and measure the size of the mammoth, lifestyle etc. The indoor Museum is also interesting on the animals, the climate and the daily life of the men of cromagnon.

  • Park surely interesting during the season the quick tour. Children disappointed by the Park too short. The mammoth end-of-life. Saw with electric cables. We enjoy a beautiful view of the Valley and the Museum.

  • Worth visiting if you are in the area, it appeared as if it needed a bit of updating in some areas
  • Nice and very children friendly but a slight let down after Lascaux and it's magical atmosphere. Still worth a shot with the discount offered when bought with Lascaux.
  • OK if you have kids, not really worth the visit if you don't
  • Waste of time and does not add anything to the Lascaux II experience.
  • Great afternoon with kids. Good workshop with relevant stakeholders. Attention if you want to do workshops consider booking on-site or on the website.
