Parc Zoologique et Chateau de Thoiry, Thoiry
Categories: Gardens, Castles, Nature & Parks, Tourist Spots
Parc Zoologique et Chateau de Thoiry blends a castle, zoo, and botanical garden. The castle itself was originally designed as a solar calendar, with the garden walkways as the hands. Built according to the golden ratio, the castle's design is in harmony with the solar cycles. Outside, you can explore the gardens, which have been fashioned by famous landscapers for centuries, marking the styles of their respective eras. Beech, oak, hornbeam, and chestnut trees all shade the property. The safari park, which must be visited from inside your vehicle, houses about 800 free-roaming exotic animals. Parts of the zoo and botanical gardens have been made accessible by foot. There’s a Komodo dragon exhibit and a lion exhibit, where you can walk among the felines inside a glass tunnel. The Mysterious Island offers an adventure trail on suspended bridges. J'ai visité pas mal de parcs zoologiques et celui-là est de loin mon préféré! La réserve africaine est un endroit magique : c'est complètement dingue de passer juste à côté des animaux en voiture! Gro... read more »I have visited a lot of zoos and this one is by far my favorite! The African reserve is a magical place: it's crazy to spend right next to the animals in the car! Big crush for the Park of the bears, where we saw a huge bison pass just under our nose, and a big bear Brown/gray eating his salad at the roadside without even us leaf watch... It's amazing to see these animals evolve in a natural place, with this impression of total freedom. For the side zoo, even finding: the animals are beautiful, healthy and their enclosures are suitable for each type. I had never heard a lion roar, it's done, and it really is very impressive! Good point also for playground children, they themselves are split in the giant slide! Mini-farm on top, where our small was able to pet and feed the goats. In short, a great day where the entire family could enjoy the variety of activities offered by this park. We will come back without hesitation!show original
