Chateau de St-Germain, St-Germain-en-Laye

(4.1/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Chateau de St-Germain is a royal palace first built by Louis VI and currently houses the magnificent National Museum of Archaeology. You can view secrets of prehistory, the Iron Age, and Gaul within an old-fashioned château, a long-time grand residence of the Kings of France. As you continue outside, garden terraces offer an amazing view of greater Paris.

The museum exhibits around 30,000 archaeological objects, making it one of the most magnificent collections in Europe, and these objects are divided into seven collections. When you’re finished here, the Saint-Louis chapel, which adjoins the château, is not to be missed. It is a masterpiece of classic gothic architecture. • During restoration, the Castle and the Museum of National Antiquities worth the detour. With its Park and its terraces is a great destination for a family outing

  • Beware the castle is entirely devoted to archaeology. Very rich visit even with young children (6 years) all periods are covered, a plus for the prehistory that kids love.
