  • On arrival, we are rewarded for our efforts! The ascent is moderately difficult, even if you do not have the habit, it is feasible by taking the time. Beware of the weather: prefer dry soil the only downside is the indication to find the car park

  • Pleasant walk as that of the Roche de Solutré. The path is quite easy to do. From the top, the view is beautiful on the hillsides of vineyards and small villages.

  • Classified with its neighbours (the rock of Vergisson and the Mont Pouilly) "Grand site de France" since 2013, the rock of Solutré impresses not only by its spectacular form inherited from its Geology (Jurassic limestone spur born from the collapse of the ditch bressan under the pressure of the Alpine thrust) but also by its history, not to say its prehistory. Archaeological excavations carried out from 1866 by Adrien Arcelin and Henry de ferry have allowed to update the most important field of animal bones (mainly horses and reindeer) dating from the Upper Paleolithic (20000 to 16000 years b.c.). Their discoveries allowed to name ("the Solutréen") and define this civilization that organized large collective hunts at the foot of the rock of Solutré. Much newer human bones have also been discovered (Burgondes or Merovingian). A House of the Grand site as well as a Museum of prehistory profusely describe the knowledge acquired to date. Walking trails have been arranged for the visit of this great site. The scenery is beautiful because the Roche de Solutré is also known for its world-renowned Vineyard: Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran, etc.
