  • The Durance has the breathtaking during the millions of years since the Alpine folding a cluse recovered to reach the sea. The result is a real monumental gate where a Citadel that is established on the right bank on the rest of the cut cluse promontory. The visit of this citadel offers an unbeatable panorama and a return back on the lives of his supporters over the past centuries. It is apparently an association that has supported the reconstruction of this citadel after the indiscriminate bombing of too high of americano-anglaise aviation (as often too often at this time) to reach the bridge crossing the Durance after the landing of Provence. A big hat for this success. We do not regret the price of admission. for a foiscela is really what we visit...

  • Whilst driving from the Verdon Gorge to Abertville, we saw the citadel looming in the distance and decided to stop and visit due to it's impressiveness. Was well worth the 6.50 entry. The views from t...  read more »
  • Offering great views up and down the valley and of the town of Sisteron. The main attraction is the fortification itself. You get impressive access to most of the site. There isn't a large amount of other things to see inside, a few old photos and paints of the town and citadel over the years.
  • Three and a half stars instead, but not possible. Interesting but not extraordinary. Beautiful and great citadel, beautiful view from there up. We stayed 1 h 15 for the visit to long and wide. Animated life-size cardboard drawing mode characters have shocked me because they distort (this is my opinion) this historic place. If you pass by there, frankly it's worth it. After, very small expos are in my opinion irrelevant, we learn 100 times more about Wikipedia but it takes for everyone and the visit is not expensive. For the campsite operators, there is a large car park at the top of the Citadel, very convenient. There is a small also before entering the city, between the bridge and the road tunnel, super if you have the chance to have a free, where you visit the nice city place and climb to the Citadel, slope not too hard of access for able-bodied persons. Good visit.

  • Very interesting free visit. Indicated the visit time is 1:30, we put 2 h 30, because the Citadel is immense, and the visitor can go almost anywhere. Ideal for the child, but provide water and a small break crust, because it is sport, one emerges with muscular legs. Audio points are enough little interesting and difficult to understand. Very nice view over the city. Very correct prices (€6) for the duration of the visit.
