  • The castle of Mauriac is appearance, the Medieval Castle by excellence in the Department of the Tarn. The interior decoration made by the owner, the Bistes painter, is see, but I leave the assessment to each visitor. As she is beautiful, so she can surprise for a castle of that time.

  • This was one of the best tours we have had. An excellent hour with a lovely guide who had a great knowledge of the Chateau de Mauriac and the artist/ owner. Recommend this highly!  more »

  • Poor site management! We occasionally passed by, checked the opening ours and planed our visit for the next day. No information was given about an closure of the castle the coming day at the front gate of the castle. Our 2-hours-drive the next day ... just for nothing. Seems the visit to the castle is a lottery. No recommendation!
  • Do the tour to see and hear all about the chateaux. The guide was so eloquent and entrancing ... loved it.
  • We stayed four days at the castle during which we were overwhelmed by the beauty of the monument and the quality of its restoration by the works of the painter Bistres. The owners are people lovely, devoted, eager to enhance your stay on a daily basis. Will definitely return. Very soon.

  • Great visit than that of the castle of Mauriac, a very nice surprise. We did not expect to fall on a castle still inhabited, adorned with so many paintings and reflecting the work of a lifetime. We quickly feel passion and work invested by the painter Bistes in places. The tour was great with a very nice guide. I was particularly impressed by the Herbarium, a room whose ceiling is decorated with paintings of hundreds of flowers and plants. Impressive! But all the work of painting and decoration in each room are worth a visit, when we know that this castle for military use was very austere. The icing on the cake is to be able to finish the visit with Mr. Bistes himself, who showed us the parts he occupied at this time there as well as his workshop: the room I preferred throughout the Castle. If he asks you, don't miss this unforgettable and this meeting with a passionate person!
