  • On a farm outside the small town of Segonzac, in the Cognac region, there is an independent cognac producer. We had booked time for the guided tour, and was greeted by the farm's owner. She directed us around from a to z, and when it ended, of course, in the storage room, with all the barrels where the precious drops. And there lay the, dark, Brown barrels, with two-digit years far back in time. We started with 10 year old drops, and ended back in the 80 's, with over 30 years old cognac. Exciting to hear about the production, and there was a meeting with a tiny little cognacprodusent who sold their drops on own brand, a cognac you will never find in the bins of vinmonopolet.

  • Narrated by a passionate winemaker who reveals the secrets of manufacture of cognac and pineau with great pleasure the terroir and the transformation of the grapes. The staff are very friendly. Particular to the old white pineau mention!

  • Simply the best Cognac I have yet found. The 20 year old single-barrel at approx €50 a bottle cannot be beaten on quality/price. In my opinion it's more refined, more aromatic and all together more enjoyable than the similalrly aged Baron Otard XO that costs 3 times the price. If you're in Cognac to visit one of the big houses, take a 20 minute drive south to Biard and sample some Guillon Painturaud, you won't be disappointed.
  • Family-owned, ugni-blanc grapes grower & cognac producer since 1610. Their Renaissance Cognac is aged for 40 years and rated 95/100 by experts.
  • Another of my favorite gourmet places. Visit with tasting. Independent winegrower. Cognac and pineau of excellent quality. I come back with the same pleasure.
