Langlois-Chateau, Saumur
(4.6/5 based on 90+ reviews on the web)
Sip and smile at Langlois-Chateau where sparkling wines are a specialty. The chateau was procured--and opened as a winery-- in 1912 by Edouard Langlois and his wife Jeanne Chateau. The couple enjoyed quick success with their sparkling wine, but production was interrupted by WWI and the death of Langlois. However, it wasn’t long before the bubbles were popping again at the chateau. Financial success allowed the property to begin an expansion that didn't end until 2009.

You’ll begin your tour at the School of Wine where you’ll learn about the wine-making processl. Then you’ll make a 300 m (984 ft) journey underground to the cellars to learn more about Langlois methods, and taste their famed Crémant de Loire. Walk around the exterior of the chateau to get a view of the vines in those abundant, sloping Loire Valley hills that draw visitors from all over the globe in pursuit of the perfect sparkling beverage. Put Langlois-Chateau on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Saumur vacation trip planner.

  • Happy recipients of a smartbox we had chosen to take the conference/tasting Langlois-Chateau, and... we were not disappointed. We were able to benefit from an almost private visit (we were two couples) with an exciting guide. Whether at the wine school where we weren't specialists learned amount of detail about the making of the wine, the differences between the different methods to make a "quiet wine" or "champagne method" or in the cellars and in the cellars, the explanations were clear. We were printing out more intelligent or at least better understand what we drink. the visit ended with a tasting perfectly conducted with a guide to listening to our tastes and our desires for us to discover wines that correspond to us. It is with pleasure that we savor the bottles with which we left. In short a very big thanks to the team who we has so much welcomed and advised, we recommend your domain to our friends without any hesitation

  • This Saumur vineyard specialises in sparkling wine but also delivers very good quality white and reds typical of the region. On our visit we took a tour with Michel Launay who proved to be a very charming and knowledgeable host. I thoroughly recommend you try the Cremant and for something different ask to try their Red Sparkling Carmen!
  • enriching visit, we appreciated the side spontaneous and free of this visit. The tasting is well conducted, sancerre is very good, vintage crémant excellent, we will return.
