Langlois-Chateau, Saumur

(95+ reviews on the web)
Winery / Vineyard
Sip and smile at Langlois-Chateau where sparkling wines are a specialty. The chateau was procured--and opened as a winery-- in 1912 by Edouard Langlois and his wife Jeanne Chateau. The couple enjoyed quick success with their sparkling wine, but production was interrupted by WWI and the death of Langlois. However, it wasn’t long before the bubbles were popping again at the chateau. Financial success allowed the property to begin an expansion that didn't end until 2009.

You’ll begin your tour at the School of Wine where you’ll learn about the wine-making processl. Then you’ll make a 300 m (984 ft) journey underground to the cellars to learn more about Langlois methods, and taste their famed Crémant de Loire. Walk around the exterior of the chateau to get a view of the vines in those abundant, sloping Loire Valley hills that draw visitors from all over the globe in pursuit of the perfect sparkling beverage. Put Langlois-Chateau on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Saumur vacation trip planner.

  • The tour begins with a lecture: "the wine school". We learned things, although connoisseurs of this environment. In a friendly context, the tour continues to the cellars and wine tasting. It is a family home and welcoming, it feels uncomfortable.

  • We did not have time to visit, but we tasted the wines. Not only they were excellent, with a good value for money, but the bartender was really nice and interesting. We will come back to visit. To do, to drink...

  • A visit which comes from the heart of the Langlois-Chateau company. It starts with "the wine school" where we learn how to make wine and what are the grapes of the vineyard. Then it alternates between facilities (tanks in inox...), cellars and instruments of era and a beautiful. Everything is excellently explained, time is not running and the tasting is the highlight of the activity. About taste 8 wines. After two hours of visit. Very good value for money (€ 5 the visit + refund of entry if purchase 3 bottles). Bravo!

  • This Saumur vineyard specialises in sparkling wine but also delivers very good quality white and reds typical of the region. On our visit we took a tour with Michel Launay who proved to be a very charming and knowledgeable host. I thoroughly recommend you try the Cremant and for something different ask to try their Red Sparkling Carmen!
  • enriching visit, we appreciated the side spontaneous and free of this visit. The tasting is well conducted, sancerre is very good, vintage crémant excellent, we will return.
