Categories: Castles, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
3.8/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web
Take a guided tour through Chateau de Puymartin, a castle originally built in the 13th century. Access is by tour only, and you'll get a thorough explanation of sumptuous tapestries, antiques, and other curios housed within. The property was enlarged in 1450 and restored in the 19th century, remaining in the hands of the Saint-Clar family until the 18th century, when it was abandoned--although some say one of the Saint-Clars never left. Legend has it that 16th-century occupant Teresa Saint-Clar roams the ramparts of the castle at night. Teresa was surprised with her lover by her husband, and as punishment was imprisoned in a small room in the tower for 15 years. The story goes that upon his death, she was walled into the room. Guided tours are in French only, but an informational brochure is available in English. • the castle is beautiful but the visit is fast and the price is expensive and not always guide the height, is worse, what of the night tour visits on the run, too impossible world of back in theaters at the same time, the visit is made with two actors who we'd recite the fables of the fountains unrelated to the Castle and a guide inaudible It wasn't bad, it was very bad

  • Nice little castle, but a little too modernized for my taste. Apart from the small chapel at the entrance which remained very authentic.

  • The castle is beautiful it is true but being inhabited we cannot have access to very few parts. Visit guided of course but a little expensive for the duration. Prefer instead the Château de Castelnaud.
