Church
Admire the different historical periods in the structure of Cathedrale Saint-Sacerdos, a Roman Catholic church dedicated to Sacerdos of Limoges. The saint's bones were taken to the cathedral during the Middle Ages, but have been missing since the wars of religion. Parts of the site date to the 9th century, although most of the building structure was constructed in the 17th century. Because of its Gothic architecture and historical significance, it has been listed as a national historical monument of France. Use the English-language informational sheet to tour the site on your own and understand what you're seeing. • Former Abbey became a cathedral in 1317 following the creation of the episcopal see of Sarlat (such as Luzon, home), then Co-Cathedral and parish church since 1801, year of the suppression of the bishopric of Sarlat. Currently headquartered in Périgueux and the Bishop bears the title of Bishop of Périgueux and Sarlat. What is surprising is first this belfry-porch very important compared to the dimensions of the building. You will discover a nave of average importance, a bit dark, but a bright choir with its large stained glass windows. Absence of a transept which reduces the importance of the building. Starting point out the great organ of the XVIII century (1752) said "swallow nest".

  • It is part of the remarkable old town of Sarlat, and is worth visiting it as part of this medieval architectural joint extraordinary. It is worth to learn something about its history.

  • It is truly beyond my comprehension how beautiful these cathedrals can get! You actually get a full sensation of medieval ages, and subconsciously diving over 500 years to the past! Make sure to stay longer in the church, and enjoy the organ play!
  • Beautiful cathedral, with a live-full surrounding.
  • Beautiful especially at night with the lights towards its towers
  • Sarlat-la-caneda city history and art perfect for a walking tour where a large number of buildings and medieval monuments, the Cathedral is not very big but inside you can feel the peacefulness of a place of meditation. I also like the name sarlat in the Périgord.
