(4.4/5 based on 30+ reviews on the web)
The lush valley of the river Vonne is home to the Gallo-Roman Site of Sanxay, which was an important venue for divine pilgrimages and a destination for several pilgrims. During the 1st and 4th centuries A.D, Gallo-Roman Site of Sanxay was protected by two divinities. You can still find the ruins of the theater that stood on this site and it is said that this theater could entertain an audience of up to 8,000 people. This site also bears the remains of a temple, with an octagonal cella or small chamber. It is believed that this site had been used as a place of public worship. • My daughter being passionate about the Romans, it was impossible not to go visit this incredible Gallo-Roman site at Sanxay. the hotel is excellent, very clear and detailed explanations. the visit of the 3 buildings is clearly explained on the guide given to hospitality. I invite you to visit this site for the baths which are incredibly well preserved, and you can imagine without penalty at the time. It's a nice family, very accessible to children while. I sincerely hope that one day soon other buildings will be updated. congratulations to all for this great work of conservation
