Trip Planner: Europe / France / Nouvelle-Aquitaine / Pyrenees-Atlantiques / Basque Country / Sainte-Engrace / Grotte de La Verna
Gape at the size of Grotte de La Verna, a capacious 4 hectare (12 acre) cavern in one of the largest cave systems in the world, extending 250 m (820 ft) wide and 190 m (623 ft) high. It's part of the Pierre Saint-Martin massif, which features 2,000 chasms--including a dozen or so reputed to be among the largest in the world. The site also features 380 km (236 mi) of underground explored cave systems and 13 major rivers. Today you can take a guided tour or hike into the world's tenth-largest cavern on your own via an access tunnel made for an underground hydroelectric plant. Dress warmly, as temperatures are cool underground. See Grotte de La Verna and all Sainte-Engrace has to offer by arranging your trip with our Sainte-Engrace travel itinerary maker.

Once informed, we take the measure - or rather the excessive - to the place. It's extraordinary, gigantic, you become ants! Provide warm clothing (5 degrees and icy draught in the tunnel). Excellent explanation of the guide for this tour "exploration River".

Provide warm clothing as it is 5 ° C! Too bad because we had more time we would have tested the sports tour! Very professional guide and interesting.

Mathieu StephanAugust 13, 2017It's freezing his buns, but it's so beautiful! 😁 is amazing, so impressive. I want to say that this place is accessible to the FRM (wheelchairs) 👌
Catherine PiotonJuly 30, 2017Surprising, nothing in common with the caves j visited. Here no stalagtites and stalagmites but 83 hectares with a startling vault room. Several more or less sporty exploration opportunities! I recommend!
Charlie BlueMay 22, 2017I didn't think that at age 55 I am able, I did it! Worth the visit, it's beautiful. Thank you Jean-François to share this passion with the public that we are. Bordeaux/Chilean
