Grotte de La Verna, Sainte-Engrace
Categories: Caves, Nature & Parks
Gape at the size of Grotte de La Verna, a capacious 4 hectare (12 acre) cavern in one of the largest cave systems in the world, extending 250 m (820 ft) wide and 190 m (623 ft) high. It's part of the Pierre Saint-Martin massif, which features 2,000 chasms--including a dozen or so reputed to be among the largest in the world. The site also features 380 km (236 mi) of underground explored cave systems and 13 major rivers. Today you can take a guided tour or hike into the world's tenth-largest cavern on your own via an access tunnel made for an underground hydroelectric plant. Dress warmly, as temperatures are cool underground. See Grotte de La Verna and all Sainte-Engrace has to offer by arranging your trip with our Sainte-Engrace travel itinerary maker.

One of my sisters who accompanied me made me a comment on the cave that should put more lighting to be able to admire the grandeur of it enough the last 5 minutes at a time of the visit. I recommend visiting the Church of Sainte Engrace of Romanesque style in the ELEVENTH centuryshow original
