  • Glanum is worth the stop! We spent a couple of hours exploring, but you could spend as little or as much time as you'd like. We began our day at St. Paul de Mausole (the hospital where Van Gough spent...  more »

  • The site, fed by a source out of the Alpilles nearby, has been successively occupied by the Celts, the Greeks and the Romans. The stacking of the remains of these civilizations is visible and well made. In addition, the visit is free on Sunday, which does not hurt.

  • A very pleasant way to spend a morning on a sunny day, and learn about the early inhabitants of Provence. Very well-preserved structures among the best in the region.
  • Interesting place to visit. Impressive to see the ruin was built BCE. I don't think it's a must to see though.
  • Site Archéologique de Glanum is a great place to visit if you love ancient history. Ruins from The Salluvian, Hellenistic and Roman inhabitants from 6th century B.C to 14 A.D. You can pick up a guided map and stroll through the centuries. Go early to avoid the inevitable coaches full of sightseers. Entry is €7.50.
  • A lot more than just old stones.
  • The upper level view offers a good insight towards the strategic reason for it's placement. Good educational value in a couple hours worth of time.
