Monks and nuns built the museum to inspire future generations and educate people about this isolated community. Exhibits and an audio guide (available in English) inform you about the monks' way of life. The monastery is supported by the sale of its Chartreuse liqueur, produced since the 18th century. • See if you're in the area, course with audio guide very well done... you can also take advantage of the calm and the serenity of the place... and bring back some liquor with the small store...

  • Museum of the monastery-the majestic and ancient. And there is the famous Chartreuse from thousands of herbs. I was told that there are 2 Catholic monk, everyone knows half recipe of this liqueur, and they never meet, so no one could find out his secret.

  • Child companion because I was nervous, but Saturday morning relatively fewer people in a silent environment with a mysterious air feeling, feeling boulv. While very simple and could lend audio guides at the reception.

  • It was a very explicit on what is a chartreuse, and Museum which are the carthusians. Videos presentations in support. The testimony of a brother "well told". The monastery itself is visible only if you take your walking shoes and a minimum of equipment for mountain comfort. Nice ride in perspective... (you're not even gone?) The monastic store offers traditional liqueurs of the carthusians, but also tasty cream Cassis... Otherwise books, DVDs, icons, cookies...
