Brantome Police Horses & Friends, Saint-Pancrace

Must see · Ranch · Hidden Gem · Farm
We provide British Police horses that have been retired from service, either through ill health or old age, with a final and loving home, here in the idyllic countryside of the Dordogne, France.

As a non-profit organisation, we are entirely funded through donations. Therefore, in order to help raise much needed funding, we routinely hold Open Days, complete with cream teas, during the late spring and summer season as well as holding various activities throughout the year, including our annual Summer Ball, in July.

We always greatly appreciate all the support and donations we receive and 100% goes on caring for the horses.

  • Passionate dedicated owners and staff looking after some wonderful horses who have worked to serve the British public and thoroughly deserve to have safety and comfort after their working life. Some very touching individual stories of both horses and mounted police officers. We hope the sanctuary continues to go from strength to strength and long into the future.
  • What a wonderful experience with the Classis Car afternoon. Plenty of cars the tour of the stables was wonderful and the work that they and the volunteers do to raise money for these brave horses. This is an amazing charity. Their Wednesdays cream teas and the tour of the stables and the film show of these horses is a very good afternoon out.
  • I just wish I could give it 5 more 🌟. What a lovely place, and so honoured to have met some of the retired police horses who took part in the 2011 riots in London. So good to see them living a good life in peace in the French countryside, after all the horrible stuff they went through during the riots. The tea and cakes afterwards is out if this works too ( I highly recommend the chocolate cake !!!)
  • This place is absolutely fantastic and a must visit when passing through the area. Prebooking is strongly advised as it gets extremely busy. You get to hear about the Life of a Police Horse video, interact with the horses on site and really spend a lovely day in the large, beautiful open grounds around you. Number 1 on Tripadvisor
  • Easter Sunday visit and fantastic welcome and afternoon tea. The staff and owners were more than interesting and friendly. What a devoted team. Beautiful place and the horses were very happy. What a treat. Puts faith back in people. Thank you
