Religious Site Historic Site
Currently a Roman Catholic cathedral dedicated to Saint Vincent of Saragossa, St Vincent Cathedral is a Romanesque cathedral that has been managed by the monks of Marmoutier since 1108. The pulpit dates from the 18th century, and the western façade of the nave has neo-Classical décor from the 18th century. Housed in the spire are four bells, and many modern renovations adorn this place of worship. The key to this cathedral is listening to its Korg organ playing ancient French and German repertoire. • The Cathedral is located in the heart of Saint Malo. At the entrance to the town it is possible to pass through the gates of Grete Gate on the street or through Grand Rue Porte St-Vinsant on rue Saint-Vincent. The first church was built on this location in the 9th century. In 1146 year in Saint Malo was moved the Episcopal Chair, so the Church was rebuilt in the Cathedral. In 1790 the year the bishopric of Saint-Malo ceased to exist, but Cathedral remained. In 1944 year Spire and wonderful stained glass windows were damaged during the bombing and rebuilt in 1971 year. The temple's architecture joined Roman and Gothic features. On the streets, adjacent to the Cathedral, there are several bakeries selling traditional Breton layer cake-Queenie Aman (kouing amann), which is made from puff pastry, salted butter and sugar. It is very delicious!

  • The reconstruction of the Cathedral after the second world war has been a success. He must spend time inside this large mass of granite to capture the beauty of the places that can seem austere at first glance. Watch these windows colorful and this sublime rose at the end of the nave, and you'll be transported!

  • The final resting place of Jacques Cartier. A beautiful Cathedral with some excellent stained glass. It's amazing that the place's corners aren't square. The whole thing is a bit of a rhombus.
