Fort National, Saint-Malo

(4/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
Accessible on foot only at low tide, Fort National invites you to cross a drawbridge leading to the old walled city of Saint-Malo. The tour of the 1689 bastion made with granite walls helps you relive three centuries of military life at the fort. Visit the imposing cistern in the dungeon, the ammunition store, and the recreation of the legendary maritime attacks of pirates and privateer Robert Surcouf. When the French flag is raised, you know the fort is open. • The most interesting thing about the fort is the view it gives of the coast and city.
  • The only lovely thing about this place is everything around it.
  • Great to look at. Only open when the flag is flying.
  • I've been there last May.[2013,5] So enchanting place!
  • truly a beautiful location. Abandoned the walls and enter on these cliffs are accessible at low tide. Go figure in those who lived there and what image they could spot.
