Historic Site Military Facility
Accessible on foot only at low tide, Fort National invites you to cross a drawbridge leading to the old walled city of Saint-Malo. The tour of the 1689 bastion made with granite walls helps you relive three centuries of military life at the fort. Visit the imposing cistern in the dungeon, the ammunition store, and the recreation of the legendary maritime attacks of pirates and privateer Robert Surcouf. When the French flag is raised, you know the fort is open. • A nice historical building in the middle of the sea. Careful, it closes at 5PM, because after that time, the sea takes back the place.  more »
  • So I wasn't able to walk out to the Fort but seeing it from the town wall was a sight to see. It was constructed in 1689 to protect the harbor.  more »

  • A beautiful fort, and crystal blue water around it... lovely.
  • It offers an absolutely stunning view of the cost and the walled city of Saint malo. At the same time the fort also looks magnificent amist the crystal blue water.
  • The most interesting thing about the fort is the view it gives of the coast and city.
  • The only lovely thing about this place is everything around it.
