  • The Abbey is in the village of St Hilaire (20 minutes from Carcassonne) guide is very interesting, competent, maybe a touch of humor would be labienvenue. (to his credit many of us) Church, the cloister, the apartments, the refectory, the cellars: everything is interesting, well restored. In addition there was (unusually) a wine tasting (we're in the middle of the vineyards) a good time so!

  • The Abbey of Saint Hilaire with its Romanesque church, cloister, and his sarcophagus carved by the master of Cabestany is a must in the Limouxin. Very friendly hostess who knows the history of the place.

  • How could you not want to visit the home of fizz? Lovely, well preserved abbey on a site dating back to Roman times that is famous for inventing fizzy wine (100 years before becoming prevalent in Champagne). It is said that Don Perignon visited the abbey on a pilgrimage to Spain and learned the technique from the Saint Hilaire monks. A short drive from Carcassonne. Check out the painted ceiling in the Abbot's rooms.
  • Awesome space. Served in Spanish at the entrance of the complex by a dependent helpful. Walk through halls, bends and hiding places deserve peace of mind: the Abbot room, cava's first sparkling wine, Church and cloister... Extraordinary.

  • Beautiful Abbey and possible visit of the whole; cleanliness to stress; Church deserves a more complete restoration and clean furnishings cumbersome and sometimes unnecessary. A small regret: have a more elaborate text or an audio-guide. Thanks for the welcome.

  • Very warm who explains in detail some thing to not missed and some stories of the Abbey to know. I recommend the visit, very nice to discover!

  • The Abbey has been beautifully restored over the past months and the tour is extended to the walled part. Competent and very warm hospitality.
