  • We had often heard of these Montbrun Balmes in Ardèche. Taking advantage of the school holidays we have brought 4 grandchildren ages 7 to 9 years. The setting is splendid with the troglodyte village and its many 'houses' carved into the rock between the 12 th and the 16 th century. You can come with young children but it is steep, and attention must be paid to the many steep places. We walked there almost two hours and all have returned a bit tired but delighted.

  • Cavemen have these caves used as natural protection. Some are clearly visible but multiple by natural vegetation barely visible. They are open to visitors for free. Care for good Footwear. With strollers or wheelchairs not available. Well worth the trouble; quite interesting.

  • A troglodyte in a still unspoilt village! It was like discovering a treasure at the bend of a thicket or a small path. There is a lot to see and understand. A wealth of knowledge for any child. It will take to bring good shoes; It is also what makes the charm of this 'still not very touristy' place to see absolutely

  • Great site to visit family in the wilderness. A little sports, better is worth to predict than tongs walking shoes! It's worth it's impressive to go on-site and imagine it still less than two hundred years of people lived there here!

  • Nice ride and two visits in one. Signs explain the life of a very well preserved troglodyte village and other particular geology of a volcanic plateau, all in nature on a trail very well laid out.

  • Great place to visit, it is really plunges back into the atmosphere of the time with the Troglodyte dwellings. Attention however if you access with children, the site remained in its natural state, making all his beauty, but dangerous because the vacuum is a short walk from the caves. Also if you go by in the rain as it's very slippery. Good shoes are recommended.

  • Very nice and well explained. But be careful: Let's go properly shod because we walk on paths of sometimes steep volcanic rock. Avoid the rainy days or next day of rain because the pasages can be slippery and steep. Otherwise the ballad is shaded. Taking his time and observing it takes 2 hours. Do not seek vilage troglodyte but balmes them.
