Le château de la Bâtie (ou Bastie) d'Urfé était la résidence familiale d'Honoré, auteur du best seller du XVIIe, L'Astrée, cinq mille pages d'amours, de déconvenues, de jalousies, de fidélités et d'in... more »The castle of the built (or Baldwin) of d ' Urfé was the home of Honoré, author of the best seller of the seventeenth, the Astrée, five thousand pages loves, disappointments, jealousy, loyalty and infidelities, but also of wars, between shepherds and shepherdesses in the drill Gauls of the 5th century. A room is devoted to, adorned with beautiful tapestries evoking the major episodes of the novel, such as the suicide of Celadon desperate by the coldness of his beloved and idly in the Lignon river flowing flowing "against the foot" of the Castle, or his discovery, at demi-noye, by three nymphs. But the castle was initially the work of its diplomat and humanist of father, which breathes look Italian, precious and modest at the same time. As the French garden where the boxwood start to be attacked by the disease ravaging them, we find a channel where spend the Lignon at its centre the fountain of lovers, and at its end. It's an absolutely beautiful and serene place. Very good tour, about 1 1/2 hours. Free walk in the gardens.

Lucette MichelI built of d ' Urfé Castle your visit for history his cave and garden
Pilou CharlesThe gardens are beautiful but the visit building in him is too short in terms of popular pieces. People the having visited in the past informed me of the presence of other parts that are now closed to the public, unfortunately like the gun room.
