Chateau Villemaurine, Saint-Emilion

(3.9/5 based on 55+ reviews on the web)
Compared to some of its neighbors, Chateau Villemaurine reigns as the new kid on the block when it comes to French wineries. This site, started in 2005, boasts 7 hectares (17 acres). What it lacks in size, it makes up for in facilities. From its ancient cellars to its modern tasting room, the chateau offers an interesting lesson in the local history of winemaking. • A good visit, nice guide. The underground part is the big plus. We visit the facilities, a short tour through the vineyard then the underground from where the rock was collected to build the buildings at the time. Finally a tasting of 2 wines. Very nice visit we loved. The only downside is the number of people. We were 30 makes a little too much. If not to say anything and as we visit the top Stud Castle earlier where we were alone for a visit that is more focused on the tasting (7 wines tasted) that perfectly complemented our tour of the castles.

  • We did the tour of the Chateau Villemaurine on the recommendation of the office of tourism, and we were not disappointed. Guide full of energy, lively and very interesting tour. It cost us € 12 per person for a tour of at least one hour, the vine to the Underground cellars, to finish on a small tasting. Very well!!

  • A very nice discovery with a guide who knows his subject very well. Full of explanations of wine making and tasting that closes the visit.

  • The site is very pretty. Underground cellars also! Nice discovery. Big flat on the guide that makes the "quick well done" visit... The wine is good, but nothing more. Let's say expensive for the quality!
