Les Fleurs de l' Abbaye, Saint-Claude
(3.8/5 based on 30 reviews on the web)
Discover a diverse array of artwork alongside ancient artifacts at Les Fleurs de l' Abbaye. The modern building sits just a stone's throw away from Saint Claude Cathedral and boasts an impressive array of paintings and drawings from the late 19th century to the 1980s, with a particularly strong School of Paris collection. The basement of the museum has a different focus, exhibiting archaeological relics from the Condat Abbey (today the cathedral). Here, you can learn about some of France's oldest monasteries. Complete your visit with a trip to the museum's small but picturesque garden. • beyond the interesting temporary exhibition is the contemporary architecture of this wonderful Museum in a small town in the high - jura impresses. The views from the floors on the panorama surrounding "life size" worth the detour. The historical part back you completely in the old monasteries medieval atmosphere, really to see St Claude!

  • In a beautiful building, close to the Cathedral, the Museum of the Abbey currently offers a temporary exhibition on the painter REBEYROLLE. The paintings of the couple of collectors Mr. and Mrs. Basset illuminate this exhibition. On the first floor, beautiful pictures of Guy Bardone and René Genis painters who made important donations to the Museum. Attention to the Museum, open only in the afternoon hours.
