  • Our ancestors left this place an extraordinary testimony of their culture. The visit is carried out on an electric train, because the cave is large. Part of the journey is on foot. The guide was very friendly and professional. It seemed a very noble gesture that return the money of the audioguide to a Spanish couple that we met, because we had translated them with explanations of the French. We will come back and recommend this visit.

  • The cave can be visited by train (we occasionally gets off the train so the shoes in consequence.) This allows us to push us into the depths of the cave and reach magnificent paintings... We dig in the prehistory and we think at this time, crawled into the cave, in the dark... Yet once, yes you can not book and must organize and come early. What small price to pay when you have the chance to access these jewels of history...

  • Cave authentic which can be visited on a small train. Super interesting, striking. The guides are all excellent (I visited several times). Prints, drawings, nests of bear! This cave is very complete and unknown compared to Lascaux. I highly recommend it!

  • We enjoyed the caves and seeing the drawings , the tour by train is a good idea however I really felt the the guide was biased towards the French visitors and that the electronic guide gave us information but audio would have been great. It is a shame that you can,t see more, totally understand the need to protect the site . It would be good if some of the paintings we couldn't see were replicated to be viewed elsewhere at the site .
  • One of the few caves with ancient art....nice mine railway underground. Dress warmly.
  • Amazing rock art, must see if you're in the region.
  • I found these original drawings to be beautifully detailed. Both painted on and scratched into the walls and ceiling are varried depictions of mammoths horses bison and rhinoceros that show real artistery. The thought that humans with little technology ventured so deep into this cave left me a feeling of awe and deep respect. The tour guides only speak French. If you don't understand spoken French, try to obtain and read the booklet with the description in your language beforehand to get the most from your tour. The booklets have several photo's, too. Be on time to obtain tickets and have a book or game and food for the wait in line.
  • The guide does 90% of the success of the visit, it's unforgettable. The mystery created by the narrative takes you on an exciting journey that we marked and inspired to come back one day. Just avoid him restaurant next door at noon, personal bad kind, prefer 10 minutes by car to reach the restaurant the unexpected at Rouffignac.
