  • Visit by train, starting 1 h and a good jacket. The guide knows his subject, and you listen to it with passion. Conscious to preserve a historical treasure, the staff educates visitors to the effects of time and the passage of man on this site. Not one of the best known but worth the drive. Arrive at the first visit in the morning or the afternoon, number of limited daily visitors.

  • Prehistoric site that deserves to be visited. Very interesting guided tour. Engravings and drawings with impressive details. The highlight of the visit is the ceiling where intermingle mammoths, horses, ibex...

  • A surprising trip back in time in every sense of the word! Prehistoric cave surprising and enriching with these galleries and this small train. Bear nests, parietal art in abundance. Entries limited to protect the site. The décor of the home also back us in the 1970s Home tickets and vintage shop! The set has a lot of charm and especially we learn a lot about the magnon cros. Fun with the little ones, provide a wool.

  • We enjoyed the caves and seeing the drawings , the tour by train is a good idea however I really felt the the guide was biased towards the French visitors and that the electronic guide gave us information but audio would have been great. It is a shame that you can,t see more, totally understand the need to protect the site . It would be good if some of the paintings we couldn't see were replicated to be viewed elsewhere at the site .
  • One of the few caves with ancient art....nice mine railway underground. Dress warmly.
  • Amazing rock art, must see if you're in the region.
  • I found these original drawings to be beautifully detailed. Both painted on and scratched into the walls and ceiling are varried depictions of mammoths horses bison and rhinoceros that show real artistery. The thought that humans with little technology ventured so deep into this cave left me a feeling of awe and deep respect. The tour guides only speak French. If you don't understand spoken French, try to obtain and read the booklet with the description in your language beforehand to get the most from your tour. The booklets have several photo's, too. Be on time to obtain tickets and have a book or game and food for the wait in line.
  • The guide does 90% of the success of the visit, it's unforgettable. The mystery created by the narrative takes you on an exciting journey that we marked and inspired to come back one day. Just avoid him restaurant next door at noon, personal bad kind, prefer 10 minutes by car to reach the restaurant the unexpected at Rouffignac.
