Where to stay in Rouen

If your main reason for visiting Rouen is its famous cathedral, which inspired Monet to paint dozens of canvasses, consider booking your room at a hotel in or around the city center. Despite being within walking distance of the cathedral and the river, hotels in this area provide comfort and privacy at modest prices. If you're looking to splurge and location isn't your priority, think about staying at a luxurious hotel-spa situated farther outside the city, where you can have access to heated outdoor pools.

  • within a beautiful, historic, religious building, the new museum is well presented with video and headphones for English. They do a good job of being politically correct. Interesting and informative. ...  more »
  • Joan of Arc is such a big part of history in Rouen, it makes this a very relevant place to visit. The multimedia show was well done and a fun way to learn about Joan of Arc.  more »

  • If you ever wanted to know about Joan of Arc, then visit here. Relatively new attraction housed in the archbishop's palace behind the Cathedral. You travel through the rooms to see the story of Joan's life told by way of reconstruction of her trial and retrial. Very interesting and relevant to current times using 3D and holograms to bring the story to life. Visitors are drip fed in so that everyone gets a good view. Headsets in other languages are available.
  • Excellent museum about Joan of Arc's life and two trials, and a last part about her influence in French history and culture. First and biggest part of the museum (about Joan's life) is a succession of videos about the investigation leading to her second trial. This place is a must-see for all history amateurs!
  • Great museum. A video is following you through the museum to relate story. As a result you remember better the story of Jeanne d'arc. Starts every 15 min and last 1.5h
  • Pretty cool. Sort of a museum but more of an interactive tour of the live of Jeanne d'arc. You do need to book ahead as the tours start every half hour.
  • Great exhibition on Joan of Arc. Kids would love it.
