Specialty Museum Museum
At Henri Malartre Cars Museum, see a collection of rare cars, including some of the first automobile models that appeared in France. The eccentric Henri Malartre bought the 12th-century castle Rochetaillee in 1959 with the intention of building France's first automobile museum. You will see Rochet-Schneiders under 15th-century ceilings and classic models parked behind Roman gates. Most of these models are still in working order and are often used for demonstrations. • A nice museum in a beautiful building which showcases mainly bicycles and cars. They have one of Hitler's vehicles as well as one of the Pope's. This place can be hard to reach if you don't have a car however.
  • A splendid collection housed in a chateau which is suffering severe neglect. Looking at the other reviews, they are few and far between - no one can find the place! It is not advertised in the Lyon Tourist, nor is it signposted from the main road - it is almost as if the City of Lyon is trying to forget their responsibility for it. (A fraction of the money lavished on the Musee des Confluences would have been enough.) We were the only people visiting - there was no cafe - the gardens were unkempt and the castle prevented by buttresses from falling down the hill. As far as I know there is no catalogue. The collection is wonderful, with several unique cars, mainly but not exclusively French.
  • Quite a mythical cars, a guide to the best of his knowledge. Nice Park nearby to have a picnic
