Pont Transbordeur - Maison du Transbordeur, Rochefort

(4.4/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
Pont Transbordeur - Maison du Transbordeur is one of only eight transporter bridges left in the world. A transporter bridge passes vehicles and people over water in a pod suspended from a trolley rolling under the deck. Today this engineering work of art is reserved for pedestrians and cyclists. The bridge connects the two banks of the Charente, between the towns of Rochefort and 'd Échillais. Visit the museum to learn more about the bridges of Rochefort. • To see because it's a monument typical and unique to the town of Rochefort. It is an impressive but is no longer in operation. I will put a damper on the lack of information or attractions around this bridge that could certainly be a lot better to be value

  • Very beautiful work that we would have liked to see it in operation and even use! We will be back

  • Definitely a visit that takes you back to the turn of the 19th and 20th century. A unique feat of engineering that binds directly to the construction period of the Eiffel Tower. To visit for fans or not building and metallurgy technology.
