Learn about the historic battles at Chateau de Peyrelade, an extremely important strategic site known for ongoing siege warfare from the 12th the the 17th centuries. Today the ruins are in good enough condition to offer a picture of the castle's original layout. Recent restoration projects have recreated the tall vaulted ceilings, 2.1 m (7 ft) thick walls, the drawbridge, and a rock dungeon. Located on a rocky outcrop overlooking Tarn Valley, the chateau offers many scenic photo opportunitues, including a chance to capture the Gorges du Tarn entrance, so remember your camera. This château is part of the tourist itinerary of 23 castles in Aveyron: La Route des Seigneurs du Rouergue. Chateau de Peyrelade Reviews
accueil souriant et sympa,l'endroit mérite la visite(libre).Le site est d'autant plus surprenant que du bas,sur la route,le château est pratiquement invisible..la vidéo de présentation est remarquable... more »home smiling and friendly, the place is worth the visit (free). The site is even more surprising than the bottom, on the road, the castle is almost invisible... the video presentation is remarkable and deserves attention (20'). And then the site is "ruffling"
Paysage magnifique et accueil très agréable. Prévoir tout de même de bonne chaussures de marche. Visite en 1h env. Accès parking avant le château. more »Beautiful landscape and very nice. Still be of good walking shoes. Before the Castle, visit parking access in approx. 1 hour.
Belles pierres et vue imprenable. Nous avons fait la visite guidée. Guide très sympa et connait bien son sujet. more »Beautiful stones and stunning views. We did the tour. Very nice guide and knows his subject.
Beautiful castle. Lots of activities in the summer. Great for kids!
Super, we were lucky there was a live show with real knights! Highly recommended
A little expensive for not much. Or maybe get there when there are animations. The view is beautiful. But it is a castle in ruins in reconstruction. After the work of people who repeat the castles is full of merit. Beware a talkative child, there's many dangers. If not for normal children it may be a pretty decorum, ideal for the imagination.
Great visit, view stunning, simple and effective explanation of life in the middle age. In my opinion even better from the days of entertainment during the season.
There is a family at 10 euros package which is more than significant. Just spectacular. Very interesting. On the other hand, to get to the parking lot, the road is very narrow, (two cars cannot pass each other) fortunately there are a few wider passages.
