Cathédrale Saint-Pierre de Rennes, Rennes

(4.1/5 based on 150 reviews on the web)
As a Roman Catholic cathedral, Cathédrale Saint-Pierre de Rennes (Rennes Cathedral) is the seat of the Archbishops of Rennes. Built in the 12th century, the Gothic tower and the entire west front collapsed in 1490. Go inside to view the existing façade with its neoclassical granite towers that were constructed in four stages over the next two centuries. During the 19th century, it was extensively refurbished with gilt, stucco, and paintings. • But what is the office tourism of RENNES, not propose in his tours of the Cathedral st pierre, particularly well restored, frescoes and paintings of high quality. Is there a political "left" to avoid proposing such a building which is part of the heritage of the Department, or even of the Brittany region. (Word of lay)

  • The Cathedral St Pierre of Rennes is a jewel in the city center, in the old reindeer. Repairs were completed in 2014. She is now better than ever. On the external façade, between 2 towers of granite, your gaze will stop on the pediment in same, the arms of Louis XIV. Inside, in addition to the 44 columns, you can see a statue of St Pierre (replica of the one located in the Basilica of St Peter in Rome), a representation of the saints bretons, a great altarpiece, major organs (the largest instrument of Illle and Vilaine), a remarkable chapel dedicated to Ste Anne patron of Brittany... After your visit, which may be guided (see tourism), do not miss to taste the crepes and cakes start from the Motte Piquet (see my review), it is in front.
